On April 20, UNI men's basketball star and Cedar Falls native AJ Green announced that he'd be entering his name into the NBA Draft as well as entering the transfer portal.

Thanks to the NBA G-League's Elite Camp, Green may just take another step toward realizing one of his childhood dreams and playing at the professional level.

As of yesterday, the league shared the list of 44 players that were invited to compete in the camp, which will be held next week, May 16-17 in Chicago, Illinois.

The G-League site elaborates on the opportunity for the two-time Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Player of the Year and the 43 others:

"The 2022 NBA G League Elite Camp gives draft prospects an opportunity to display their skills in front of NBA and NBA G League scouts, coaches and front-office executives over the course of the camp by playing in five-on-five games and participating in strength and agility drills.

Based on performance, select players from the NBA G League Elite Camp will be invited to participate in Microsoft Surface NBA Draft Combine 2022, which will be held May 18-22 at Wintrust Arena."

Wintrust Arena is also located in Chicago.

Green is the only player from the MVC selected to participate in the camp. Murray State will be joining the conference next season, and the Racers' Tevin Brown was also invited.

I'll be talking with AJ about the opportunity for this weekend's episode of Cornstalks and Sports Talk. The episode will debut on Saturday morning at nine on AM950 and KOEL.com. You can also listen to the interview on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and anywhere else you listen to podcasts once it is published at 10 AM on Saturday.

The following players that made it to the NBA participated in the G-League Elite Camp before they earned a roster spot, per the league's FAQ page:

Oshae Brissett – Indiana Pacers
Amir Coffey – LA Clippers
Tyler Cook – Chicago Bulls
Terence Davis – Sacramento Kings
Tacko Fall – Cleveland Cavaliers
Jared Harper – New Orleans Pelicans
Terance Mann – LA Clippers
Caleb Martin – Miami Heat
Reggie Perry – Toronto Raptors
Max Strus – Miami Heat
Jose Alvarado – New Orleans Pelicans
Duane Washington Jr. – Indiana Pacers
Dalano Banton – Toronto Raptors
Mac McClung – Los Angeles Lakers

The 2022 NBA Draft will take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on June 23. This will be the 76th edition of the draft.
