Hawkeyes Add Another High-Profile Recruit to 2023 Class

The Iowa Hawkeyes have been on a recruiting tear over the last month, landing a barrage of in-state talent, but also spreading their metaphorical wings and earning commitments from some of the top recruits across the country.

Less than two weeks ago, Kirk Ferentz and the Iowa program received a commitment from Naples, Florida four-star running back Kendrick Raphael. I discussed Raphael's commitment and several others on last week's episode of Cornstalks and Sports Talk with recruiting reporter for 247Sports and HawkeyeInsider, Sean Bock:

As of this weekend, and his announcement on Twitter, another four-star recruit is on his way to Iowa City in 2023. Trevor Lauck, an offensive tackle from Indianapolis, Indiana will be a Hawkeye next year.

The 6'6, 285-pound lineman chose Iowa over scholarship offers from other Power Five FBS programs like Michigan, Ohio State, West Virginia, Cincinnati, and Michigan State.

He visited Michigan State and Iowa just one week apart from one another and chose the Hawkeyes just two days after his visit.

This is what Lauck previously told 247Sports about how he viewed the Iowa football program:

I’ve always been a fan of watching Iowa play It’s something about their physicality and being tough guys. The consistency that Iowa, the program has, is really good for recruiting these days. You don’t know what’s real and what’s not sometimes in recruiting, but with Iowa, you know what you’re getting is real.

Lauck is the third offensive linemen from the 2023 class to commit to playing for the Hawkeyes, joining three-star center from Brownsburg, Indiana, Leighton Jones and offensive tackle from Gilman, Illinois, Cannon Leonard.

Coach Ferentz and the rest of the coaching staff in Iowa City are also patiently waiting on a hopeful commitment from Kadyn Proctor. Proctor is a five-star offensive lineman from Southeast Polk in Pleasant Hill, Iowa. With scholarship offers from nearly every school in the country, he has narrowed his choice down to Iowa and Alabama. Proctor's high school teammate and fellow five-star recruit Xavier Nwankpa will play his first season for the Hawkeyes this fall.
