A truck with a load of aviation fuel for cropdusters, was involved in an accident in Floyd County.

It happened just before noon Friday (Aug. 14th) on Jersey Avenue, near Rockford.
25 year old Travis Shirley of Winnsboro, Louisiana was driving a Freightliner strait truck owned by Klinkenborg Aerial Spraying Service of Parkersburg. The truck had just refueled a helicopter that had been crop dusting.

As Shirley was driving south, he became distracted; the truck drifted too close to the edge of the road, left the road and rolled onto it's side. Shirley was not hurt.

The truck did leak some liquid pesticide and some aviation fuel. Damage to the truck was estimated at $10,000.

The Floyd County Sheriff noted that the helicopter was not involved in the accident.

The sheriff was assisted by Floyd County Emergency Management, Iowa DNR, Rockford Fire Department, and Rudd Fire Department.
