A new study came out from Casinos.com that determined America's favorite horror movies. The information from the study was compiled from Google Search Trends data, according to the official website.

After going through the results, you could see that the most popular movies vary from classic creature features to modern day psychological thrillers.

Here are the top few horror movies throughout the United States:

'The Boogeyman'

This movie came out earlier this year and is based off of the short story by Stephen King of the same name. It follows a family that is left reeling after the death of their mother and a supernatural entity that preys on their suffering.

'The Boogeyman' was the most popular horror movie in fifteen states.

'Halloween Ends'

Another recent film gets a pretty high spot on this list! This conclusion to the acclaimed horror franchise came out in 2022. It stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Michael Myers himself!

Thirteen states called this continuation their favorite horror romp.

'Scream'

So many genre defining classics in this mix! Americans sure do have great taste!

There have been six total movies in this franchise which has spanned decades. Originally released in 1996, this slasher movie was the favorite in nine states.

But what about Iowans favorite horror movie?

Iowans are a fan of the more recent flicks, with a few exceptions.

Before diving into this data, I was sure that I would see 'Children of the Corn' somewhere on the list, but those terrifying children are nowhere near Iowa's favorite spooky specters in Halloween horror.

Released in 2017, this movie reimagines the terrifying tale made famous with Tim Curry. This cast features Bill Skarsgård taking on this role and some talented child stars.

Besides Iowa, eight other states claimed this one as their favorite according to data.
