Authorities are investigating a possible attempted child abduction in Sumner.

The reported incident of suspicious activity happened Tuesday around 10:30 AM outside the Public Library. A teenaged girl told Sumner police that she was approached in the parking lot by a man who asked her to get into his vehicle.

Police said the girl went directly into the library. They reported that she is safe and was unharmed.

The teenager described the suspect as an adult male with dark hair. The vehicle was described as a blue-green extended cab pick-up truck, but no further description was given.

Sumner police later released a surveillance photo of the pick-up (shown above and below). The driver is wanted for questioning in connection with the incident, authorities said.

Officials are asking for the public's help in identifying the man and the vehicle. Anyone with information about the incident should contact Sumner police at 563-578-3242, message the department on Facebook or call 911.
