Sumner police are trying to determine who broke into a local museum and caused an estimated $10,000 in damage.

Authorities said the break-in at Memories Are Forever – the former Sumner Community School building – occurred sometime between 3 PM Thursday and 1:15 PM Friday, when the crime was discovered. According to police, the building and memorabilia were damaged.

Officers walked through the building with museum officials and determined that some items were taken during the burglary. Bremer County sheriff's officials are assisting Sumner police in the investigation.
