Several Fire Crews Respond to Big House Fire

Authorities are investigating the cause of a large house fire in rural Linn County, that prompted the assistance of over a dozen fire departments.

Shortly after 6:30pm Monday (March 28), the Mount Vernon Fire Department was called out to a home at 1396 Arrowhead Lane, the Jay and Susan Johnson residence.

Fire departments from surrounding communities also responded including: Cedar Rapids, West Bertram, Marion, Springville, Lisbon, Ely, Mechanicsville, Martelle, Stanwood, Clarence, Alburnett, Morley, Swisher, Anamosa, Olin, and Central City.

Also assisting at the scene, were the Lisbon/Mount Vernon Ambulance, Linn County Sheriff's Deputies, and Linn County Sheriff's Rescue.

No one was injured, but the home sustained major damage.

The origin of the fire has not yet been determined.
