A popular, high-end restaurant chain will be opening its first Iowa location within the next couple of years!

A new article from the Des Moines Register announced that "Ruth's Chris Steak House and CRG residential will begin construction on a 9.5-acre multi-use development at the corner of Jordan Creek Parkway and Ashworth Road in West Des Moines this fall."

The 15,000-square-foot restaurant will be two-stories and will be surrounded by high-end apartments. The project is estimated to cost between 25 and 30 million dollars, and they expect it to be finished by "late 2022 or early 2023."

If you're not familiar with Ruth's Chris Steak House, it was started in New Orleans back in 1965 by a single mom named Ruth. The restaurant's website reads:

"Known as the First Lady of Steak, Ruth Fertel was something special. From a 60-seat steak house, she built a business that spans the globe, but never lost sight of her original recipe for success: perfect steak, warm hospitality and good times that never stop rolling."

According to Wikipedia, Ruth passed away after a battle with lung cancer. But, before her death, the restaurant had grown from just one restaurant to 86! And Ruth's legacy lives on today. The chain is now so successful that there are locations across 21 different countries!

Anyone that has been to a Ruth's Chris Steak House will tell you that the food is delicious, but it doesn't come cheap. Just to give you an idea, the 'Porterhouse for Two' will cost you around $105 at some locations. In addition to steaks, the menu also offers soup, salad, lamb chops, seafood, stuffed chicken, desserts, and more.

It'll be awhile until we can try the new Ruth's Chris Steak House in Des Moines, but there are a few locations in other Midwest cities, including St. Louis, Minneapolis, and Madison. You can get more information HERE.
