One Killed, Two Injured In Tama County Accident

The Iowa State Patrol is investigating a head-on crash that killed one person and injured two others in Tama County Saturday evening (July 15, 2017).

Authorities said Donald Selkin, 81, of Vinton died in the accident. His passenger -- Lois Schmitt, 73, also of Vinton -- and the other driver -- David Keidel, 74, of Cedar Falls -- were both taken to a Waterloo hospital for treatment of injuries.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash happened on a bridge where traffic was reduced to one lane in a construction zone. The collision occurred around 10:30 p.m. Saturday on Iowa Highway 21, about a half-mile south of County Road D-65.
