One Dies In Fiery Pickup, Semi Accident Near Hudson
Authorities are investigating a fiery, two-vehicle accident that left one person dead in Black Hawk County on Tuesday.
The accident happened around 9 AM on Iowa Highway 58/Hudson Road just north of Hudson. Officials said a southbound pick-up and northbound semi tractor-trailer collided nearly head-on. The pickup then burst into flames.
Hudson Police Chief Daniel Banks told the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier and KWWL that the driver of the pickup was killed in the crash and the semi driver suffered minor injuries. No names were released.
Later, in a letter sent to district parents and guardians, Hudson Schools Superintendent Tony Voss confirmed that the person who died was the parent of Hudson students.
