EVANSDALE, Iowa (AP) — The final part of a former elementary school in Evansdale is all but gone.

Little remained Wednesday of Jewett Elementary School besides a pile of destruction rubble, benches and old playground equipment. The school closed in 2007 after being built in 1948. There have been several additions.,

The east wing came down in May 2014, the west wing in December 2014.

Evansdale Economic Development Corp. plans to erect what will become the Community Life Center.
