PUBLIC SERVICE NOTICE: The traditional fall clean-up deadline at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in rural Oelwein is approaching. Anyone who wants to keep their summer grave decorations or eternal lights should remove them before Friday, Oct. 15. Cemetery staff is scheduled to remove all remaining decorations on Saturday, Oct. 16, when the vases will be turned down for the winter. Anyone with a shepherd's hook can use it to place winter decorations on the grave starting Nov. 1. Shepherd's hooks that won't be used for winter decorations should be taken home for the season.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Vincent Zeien, 88, of New Hampton, will be held Monday, Oct. 11 at Holy Family Parish in New Hampton. Burial at St. Boniface Cemetery in Ionia. Friends may greet the family Sunday from 3 PM to 6 PM at Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in New Hampton and Monday one hour prior to the funeral mass at the church.

Services for Hazel Schweiger, 89, of Eden Prairie, Minn., and formerly of New Hampton, are Friday, Oct. 8 at 1:30 PM at Jerico Lutheran Church. Burial at Jerico Lutheran Church Cemetery. Friends may greet the family Friday one hour prior to services at the church. Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in New Hampton has been entrusted with the services.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Richard Franzen, 66, of Charles City and formerly of Lawler, will be held Tuesday, Oct. 12 at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Lawler. Burial at the church cemetery. Friends may great the family Monday from 4 PM to 7 PM at the church, where there be a 7 PM scripture service. Visitation is also Tuesday for one hour before the start of the funeral mass at the church. Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in New Hampton is in charge of arrangements.

Inurnment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, also in Charles City. Family and friends will gather Thursday from 6 PM to 8 PM at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home in Charles City and Friday for one hour before the start of the funeral mass at the church.

Services for Ronald Childers, 71, of Oelwein, are Saturday, Oct. 9 at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein. Burial at Woodlawn Cemetery in Oelwein. Visitation is Friday from 4 PM to 7 PM and Saturday one hour prior to the start of services at the funeral home.
