May 26 funeral announcements

A Quasqueton woman, 68 year old Cheryl Vanous, died Friday. There will be no service or visitation, but a private graveside service at Quasqueton cemetery. Reiff Family Center-Funeral home in Independence is handling arrangements.

A Spillville man, 80 year old Gordon "Gordie" Klimesh, died Sunday. A private memorial service will be held Thursday at noon at St. Aloysius Catholic church in Calmar. Burial in St. Wenceslaus Catholic cemetery in Spillville, with military honors. The service will be livestreamed on the CFOS parishes' Facebook page. Schluter Balik funeral home is handling arrangements.

A Maynard man, 47 year old Edward "Ed" Richards, died Sunday. A graveside service for family and close friends will be held Thursday at 1:30pm at Woodlawn cemetery in Oelwein. A private family visitation will be held at Jamison Schmitz funeral home in Maynard.

A New Hampton woman, 90 year old Marie Knoll, died Sunday. Private funeral services will be held at Conway Markham funeral home in New Hampton. A graveside service will be held at 11am Thursday at the New Hampton cemetery. Friends and family are welcome.

A Waverly man, 91 year old Robert Maxfield, died Sunday. A public graveside service will be held Friday at 2pm at Harlington cemetery in Waverly with military honors. A public Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Kaiser Corson funeral home in Waverly is assisting the family.

A Sumner man, 53 year old Thomas "Tom" Simmons, died May 18. Services will be held at a later date. Geilenfeld Buehner funeral home in Oelwein is helping the family.

An Oelwein woman, 90 year old Shirley Saur, died Sunday. Services are pending at Jamison Schmitz funeral home in Oelwein.

A Marble Rock man, 85 year old David Schlader, died Friday. A private family service will be held at St. Mary's Catholic church in Roseville. Inurnment in the church cemetery. Hauser Weishaar funeral home in Charles City is in charge of arrangements.

Graveside services for a Waukon woman, 85 year old Jane Schneider, are Friday at 12:30pm at Oakland cemetery in Waukon. Martin funeral home in Waukon is handling the arrangements.

A Prairie du Chien woman, 73 year old Maria McFarland, died Sunday, May 17th. Services are Saturday at 11am at Faith Community church in Prairie du Chien. Burial in Evergreen cemetery. Visitation is 4-7pm Friday at the church, and an hour before services. Thornburg Grau funeral home in Prairie du Chien is helping the family.
