Funeral announcements, Oct. 30 and 31st, and Nov. 1st

A Funeral Mass for an Osage man, 87-year-old Joseph "Pete" Michels, will be held Saturday at 11 AM at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville. Burial will be in the Visitation Catholic Cemetery in Stacyville, with military honors at the grave by Stacyville American Legion Post 569. Visitation will be held Saturday from 10 to 11 AM before service at the church. Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage is assisting the family.

Funeral services for a McGregor woman, 92-year-old Adeline Maxine Hammel, will be held Saturday at 2 PM at Giard United Methodist Church in Giard. A lunch and time for fellowship will be held at Maggie's Diner following the service. Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of McGregor is helping the family with arrangements.

Memorial services for a Clarksville woman, 80-year-old Geraldine “Geri” Lola Ruth will be held Friday at 1 PM at Shell Rock United Methodist Church in Shell Rock. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, also in Shell Rock. The family will greet relatives and friends Friday, one hour prior to the memorial service at the church. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly is assisting the family.

Funeral services for a Plainfield woman, 97-year-old Laura L. Clewell will be held Monday at 10:30 AM at Bartels, Good Shepherd Chapel, in Waverly. Burial will follow at Harlington Cemetery, also in Waverly. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4 to 7 PM at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly, and Monday one hour prior to the service at Bartles. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly is assisting the family with arrangements.

An Oelwein man, 62-year-old Joseph J. Nolan, died Monday afternoon. Per his request, there will be no funeral services. The Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home is assisting the family.

A Mass of Christian Burial for an Elma man, 81-Jack D. Whitinger, will be held Saturday at 10:30 AM Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Lourdes. Burial will be at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 7 PM with a 3:30 PM Rosary at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in Elma. Visitation will continue Saturday one hour prior to the funeral mass at the church.

A Memorial Mass for an Alta Vista man, 79-year-old Ronald J. Gebel, will be held Monday at 10:30 AM at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Alta Vista. Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, also in Alta Vista. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 7 PM Conway-Markham Funeral Home in Elma, where there will be a 3:30 PM Scriptural Wake Service and a 4:00 PM Rosary. Visitation will continue at the church Monday one hour prior to the funeral mass.

Services for a former Vinton man, 62 year old John Charles "JC" Frank of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, are Saturday at 11am at St. Mary Catholic church in Vinton. Burial in Bear Creek cemetery in rural Vinton. Visitation is today (Friday) from 4-7pm at Van Steenhuyse-Russell funeral home in Vinton, with a Knights of Columbus rosary at 4pm; visitation is also an hour before services at the church.
