Nursing Assistant in Sex Case Pleads to Lesser Charge
A former nursing assistant at a Northeast Iowa residential facility has pleaded guilty to the sexual exploitation of one of the residents.
31 year old Jamie Pagel of Sumner, the latest in a list of employees at Prairie View Residential facility accused of similar charges, has pleaded guilty to a charge of Sexual Exploitation by a Mental Health Worker, a misdemeanor.
Pagel had originally been charged with a felony, but that was reduced in exchange for her plea.
The agreement calls for Pagel to serve 2 years of supervised release, and register on the state sex offender registry.
Three other nursing assistants at Prairie View, located near Fayette, have made plea agreements in connection with an investigation that began in March, in which 2 residents fled the center, and later discovered to be with the employees, having sexual relations.
Shelby Sebring of Hawkeye is still waiting for her trial.
