Not A Fan of the New Fireworks Law, But Won’t Complain Either
I'm not a big fan of the new fireworks law allowing Iowa residents to shoot off their own personal fireworks displays, but you won't find me complaining about it much either. I explain why.
Yes, there have been more than a handful of nights that I am stirred awake from a series of fireworks popping off close to the Doren Manse Sports Bar & Grill. It even sends poor Tripp 'The Dog' Doren running to his favorite hiding spot. Despite the disruption, I don't feel I have the right to complain about the late night noise.
There are things that I love to be a part of that I am sure upsets other people and their evening routine. I do things that probably annoy others just as much.
It's no secret that I love to go the race track. I'm sure there are more than a couple of people that could do without the constant roar of engines into the night. How many people that live close to Riverfront Stadium could do with out P.A. Announcer Elwin Huffman talking about the right fielder, and how he just went yard over the left center fence? While sitting in the stands, I love it. If I lived nearby, maybe not as much.
The point? I'll endure a brief interruption to my daily routine, so others can do something they enjoy. In turn, I hope they do the same when I'm enjoying something that might interrupt their evening.
Not sure when it's legal to fire off your explosive displays, so you don't get the cops called on you? We have the legal fireworks times and dates posted here (read more).
