The Oelwein Community School District has a new High School Principal.

At last night's regular meeting, the Oelwein school board approved hiring Joshua Ehn, who is currently the High School principal at Melcher Dallas school district.

Ehn was offered a contract for $95,000. Ehn will take over the job that has been held by Chad Kohagen, who has resigned to take a position with another school district.

Before the regular meeting, the Oelwein School board held a special session to interview a candidate for new school superintendent.

Dan Diercks, who was interviewed last night, is one of two finalists for the job.
Diercks is currently the High School principal at the Allamakee Community school district in Waukon.

Tonight (Tuesday), another candidate for the post will be interviewed by the Oelwein School board and some community members: Tony Voss, who is presently the superintendent at Hudson Community Schools.

Oelwein school officials indicate that they plan to announce the appointment of a new superintendent this Wednesday.

Current head administrator, Steve Westerberg, has resigned to take a similar post in Minnesota.

In other business, the Oelwein school board approved a low bid of just under $278,000 by Pro-Build Construction of Elkader, for the remodeling project at Wings Park Elementary.

They also approved the low bid of just over $78,000 by Lynch Roofing, to replace the roofs on the high school library and gymnasium.
