NE Iowa Man Seriously Hurt in Traffic Accident

The Fayette County Sheriff reports that a recent one-vehicle accident near Clermont has put an area man in the hospital with serious injuries.

The accident was reported just after 2am on Saturday, Dec. 23, 3 miles west of Clermont on Great River Road.

Deputies determined that a westbound car driven by 24 year old Chase Heying of Ossian, went off the road, into a ditch, and slammed into a culvert.

Heying sustained serious injuries; he was initially taken to the West Union hospital, then flown to a LaCrosse, Wisconsin hospital.

The car, a 1997 Geo Prizm, was a total loss.

The accident is still under investigation.
