Motorcyclist Injured In Waterloo Accident
A motorcyclist is hospitalized with serious injuries following an accident in Waterloo.
The crash happened Monday around 8:30 PM near the intersection of West 18th and Commercial Streets. According to police, officers were on the scene of a traffic hazard, when a truck stopped behind the patrol vehicle. At some point later, a motorcycle collided with the rear of the stopped truck.
An officer noticed the collision and found the male driver near the motorcycle, an accident report states. Police said the man was bleeding and appeared to be unconscious from the impact.
Authorities administered first aid at the scene. Waterloo Fire Rescue then transported the injured man to local hospital for treatment. The victim was considered to be in critical condition Tuesday morning, Waterloo police said.
Officials did not immediately identify the motorcyclist, pending notification of family. According to police, the occupants of the truck weren't injured.
Waterloo police said the accident remains under investigation. The Iowa State Patrol is assisting in the investigation.
