
Minnesota Sees First Reported Measles Case of 2025
St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) is reporting the state’s first Measles case of 2025.

MDH records indicate the reported case makes 2025 the third year out of the last four in which Minnesota has a Measles case.
70 cases were reported last year, which was the highest number of reported cases since 2017. There were zero Measles cases reported in Minnesota in 2023 and 22 were reported in 2022, according to MDH.

First Measles Case of 2025 Reported in Minnesota
KMSP-TV is reporting Minnesota’s first Measles case reported this year is linked to a health alert issued by local officials in Washington D.C. MDH lists the case as pending classification.
The individual flew to the nation’s capital from Minnesota and the alert says there are three exposure sites in Washington D.C.
Measles is an infection that is easily spread by coughing, sneezing, or even being in the same room with a person who has measles. Health officials say the virus can also remain airborne for as long as two hours after an infected person leaves.
The infection can result in serious illness that requires hospitalization and can even be fatal.
As of March 20, the CDC says there have been 378 reported Measles cases across the country this year. The 5-19 age range has the most cases at 159.
64 of the infected people have been hospitalized and two have died. The CDC also says 95% of the people who contracted the virus either weren’t vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status.
