Wide Variety of Fall Into Marion Events Happening This Weekend
Marion promises to be an excellent place to enjoy a cup of hot coffee, cocoa, or perhaps your favorite pumpkin-spice drink this weekend. A lot is going on.
A series of events kicks off Friday night as pianists from Midwest Dueling Pianos take to the Klopfenstein Amphitheater at Lowe Park. The outdoor event is from 6 to 8 p.m. Food vendors will be on-site, but you're also welcome to bring your own food and drinks.
If you love pancakes, and who doesn't, you can enjoy a hearty breakfast Saturday morning and help the Marion Heritage Center at the same time. All-you-can-eat pancakes are served from 7:30 to 11:30 at the Depot Pavillion in City Square Park. The cost is just $8.
The Fall Marion Market is happening at 7th Avenue and City Square Park on Saturday morning from 8 to noon. Need pumpkins for cooking or decorating? You'll find 'em there, along with gourds, fresh produce, baked goods, and more. There's also live music, balloons, and face painting.
Last month, we told you about the Dog Fashion Show in Marion. This is the weekend! It starts Saturday morning at 10 at the Uptown Artway. If your dog loves the limelight, you can still enter them here. The best-dressed pets win prizes.
No matter who you're rooting for on Saturday, you can cheer them on at Tailgate in the Park in Lowe Park. The Baylor-Iowa State game will be shown on the big screen at 11, followed by UNI-Western Illinois at 3, and Iowa-Rutgers beginning at 6 p.m. Like Friday night's event at Lowe Park, there will be food vendors but you can also bring in your own food and drinks.
The final weekend event in Marion is Sunday's Classic Car Show & Shine, hosted by the Cedar Rapids Corvette Club. Donations benefit Easter Iowa Honor Flights and pizza by the slice will be available from the Marion Kiwanis. The Classic Car Show & Shine is at Thomas Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
