Local Presentation on Avoiding Scams Scheduled

The public is invited to a presentation in Oelwein today, to inform residents about scam artists.

The program, presented by the AARP Fraud Watch Network, will be held from 6-7pm at the Historical Society, at 900 2nd Avenue SE in Oelwein.

The event is free to the public, but you have to register, by calling the AARP registration line, at 1-877-926-8300.

If you have already RSVP'd for the Central Senior Center's meal, there is no need to register.

The program will focus on the latest scams hitting the state, and ways to prevent becoming a victim.
