Local Police Deal with Vandalism, Accident, and Arrests

The Oelwein Police Department is investigating an accident, some vandalism, and a couple of unrelated arrests.

Shortly after 2pm Sunday (Aug. 14) Oelwein officers were dispatched to a traffic accident in the 200 block of 10th Street SE. A car driven by Eleanor Fratzke collided with a Pickup driven by Ronald Crawford. No injuries were reported.

Police received reports of criminal mischief late Saturday (Aug. 13) and early Sunday, from the 300 block of 2nd Avenue SE, and the 10 block of 12th Avenue SE. A damage estimate was not available.

Friday evening (Aug. 12) Oelwein police arrested 44 year old Carl Hernandez of Oelwein for Public Intoxication and interference with official acts, after an officer witnessed Hernandez stumbling and causing a disturbance in the 200 block of South Frederick Avenue.

And early Saturday, at about 2am, 22 year old Jacob Snay of Oelwein was taken into custody for criminal mischief-5th degree, after police got a report of a loud noise in the 400 block of 13th avenue NW.
