Sometimes in a world that grows more difficult to live in day by day, real heroes don't wear capes. Real heroes make donuts. To take the edge off the anxiety that high gas prices are causing, Krispy Kreme is going to lower the cost of a dozen donuts to the average price of a gallon of gasoline.

KCCI reports that each Wednesday from April 13th through May 4th, Krispy Kreme will sell a dozen of their amazing original glazed donuts for the same price as a gallon of regular gas. The donut maker will use Monday's national average gas price to set the price of their donuts that Wednesday. Even though the national average price for gas in the U.S. has come down a bit in recent weeks, the ongoing war in Ukraine is continuing to cause enough uncertainty in the markets to keep oil prices high for quite some time.

According to KCCI, AAA put the national average per gallon for gas on Monday at $4.11. So on Wednesday, a dozen glazed donuts from Krispy Kreme will cost the same, just $4.11. While we hate paying that for gas, you're actually saving quite a bit on the donuts as the normal price for a dozen glazed is at least $10. Of course the bad news for folks living in Eastern Iowa? The only Krispy Kreme locations near us are both in Des Moines. It might not be worth going out of your way for, but hey...if you happen to be in Central Iowa on Wednesday, why not stop by?
