Iowa Farm Breaks Record Selling For Over $2.5 Million [PHOTOS]
A farm in Iowa sold for more than double the price per acre than the county’s average on Friday- for a new county record!
The land sold is located in Le Mars and consisted of 96.33 acres of farmland and 3.67 acres for the farm place (home). According to Sioux City Journal, property buyers are the neighbors north of the farm.
The land sold for $25,000 an acre which is more than double the average acre price in Plymouth County- $12,416 in 2021.
Between both the farmland and the farm home, the property sold for over $2.6 million.
Bruce Bark the auctioneer told KTIV the buyers were a pair of brothers.
It’s going to a great farm family, that just lives over the hill, and they have generational ownership as well. The two sons ended up buying it actually, and the father was here to support them and they have support from their past background. Great people, great farmers, and the farm will have a rich history going forward.
Between 2018 and 2021, the land has been used for corn and soybean rotations.
According to KTIV, this price comes close to Iowa’s record acreage price but doesn’t quite break it. As of October 2021, Ag Web says the Iowa acreage record is $26,000.
So, let's take a look at this $2.6 million house!
Iowa Farm Land Sets New County Record
The land was put on sale following the death of Eilene L. Rolling who owned the farm. According to Sioux City Journal, her husband also passed away several years ago. The family-owned the land for decades before it went to auction.
