One Person Killed in Shooting on I-80 in Central Iowa
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and other law enforcement agencies are investigating a Tuesday morning shooting on I-80 in central Iowa.
According to the Des Moines Register, an incident happened on westbound I-80 around mile marker 188 sometime Tuesday morning.
A tweet from Iowa 511 indicates the shooting happened sometime before 8:35 Tuesday morning, approximately five miles east of the Grinnell exit.
The right lane of westbound I-80 was blocked off for emergency vehicles for approximately 2 1/2 hours. DOT cameras showed traffic began to flow freely again just before 11 a.m.
Tuesday morning, Iowa State Patrol Sgt. Alex Dinkla told the Des Moines Register there was no danger to the public.
Tuesday afternoon, the Poweshiek County Sheriff's Office announced an adult male was killed in the shooting, which they say happened at 8:25 a.m.. The suspected shooter has been arrested. Neither persons name has been released.
