We see how Iowans stock up compared to the rest of the country.

When it comes to hard-working Americans, Iowa is pretty high on the list. WalletHub did a survey looking at all 50 states and the District of Columbia to see which residents are working the hardest. Especially considering that the average American will work for 1,783 hours per year. So just how hard are Iowans working?

Iowa was ranked as the 14th hardest working state in the country.

WalletHub scored the survey based on

  • Work week length
  • Employment Rate
  • Commute Times
  • Volunteer Hours
  • Vacation Days Used
  • Share of Households were no adults work
  • Share of Engaged Workers
  • Idle Youth Rate *16-24 years old (The only category that Iowa scored 1st in)
  • Share of Workers with Multiple Jobs
  • Average Leisure Time Spent Per Day

Here is a breakdown of the whole country and their ranks:
