DUNKERTON, Iowa (AP) — The Iowa auditor's office says the former Dunkerton police chief made improper purchases of fuel while he was working for the city.

An audit report released Thursday says city officials asked for an investigation after allegations were made against Tim Schultz, who resigned in August 2014. The report says investigators identified more than $2,700 in improper disbursements, including more than $2,500 in fuel purchases between Jan. 1, 2013, and Aug. 13, 2014, by Schultz when he was not on duty.

Black Hawk County Attorney Linda Fangman says she's received a copy of the report but could not comment because she hasn't yet reviewed it.
