MARION, Iowa (AP) — A man has shown up to claim the wedding ring he lost at a landfill on the north side of Marion in Linn County.

A landfill worker found the ring Saturday while cleaning an area near a line of outdoor trash bins at the Cedar Rapids/Linn County Solid Waste Agency site. The gold man's ring had an inscription on the inside that said "J.H.H. to W.W.S" and what looked like an anniversary date.

The man went to the landfill on Tuesday and was given back his ring. Landfill spokesman Joe Horaney says man, who didn't want to be identified, had initials matching the inscription, knew the anniversary date and had been at the landfill on Saturday.
