Driver Takes Shortcut Through Middle of a Roundabout
Authorities are investigating a one-vehicle accident just northeast of Fairfax, in which the motorist drove through the center of a roundabout.
Shortly after 10:30pm Thursday (Sept. 17), the Linn County Sheriff and other emergency agencies were called to the intersection of Williams Boulevard and Dean Road.
A van, driven by 46 year old Tina Blackford of Cedar Rapids, was southbound on Williams, when she failed to correctly enter the intersection, and went straight over the center of the roundabout. The van then rolled over.
Blackford was taken to a local hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. According to the Linn County Sheriff, Blackford was the only occupant of the van, and she was buckled up.
At this time, Blackford is being charged with several traffic offenses, and authorities continue to investigate to determine if she was intoxicated at the time of the crash.
