‘Drive-Through Storybook in Lights’ Coming to Cedar Rapids For Holidays [WATCH]

This year, eastern Iowa families will have a new location to celebrate the holiday season.

A company that has been creating memories for 17 years will begin producing them for families all across the area.

Shadrack Productions is bringing a Christmas Adventure to Cedar Rapids beginning in mid-November and continuing into January.

The company, which has eight different drive-through displays in the U.S., describes it as"the very first drive-through storybook in lights! Step into a realm where imagination meets reality, and the magic of Christmas comes to life in a grand and unprecedented fashion. This enchanting experience promises to captivate your senses and transport you to a larger-than-life storybook adventure like never before."

As you drive through the Cedar Rapids display synchronized to music, you'll see the visual story of Shadrack’s Super-Sized Christmas Adventure. Shadrack Christmas says, "Santa’s Shrink Ray accidentally hits your car instead of the presents it was aiming for, plunging you and your family into a world of super-sized toys, animals, and imagination. Will you find a way to ‘regrow’ or will you become lost in the tiny tinsel mayhem forever?"

The light display will include special effects like snowflakes falling and characters coming to life through animation. The video below was posted by the company three years ago.

The video below is from last year's display in Johnson City, Tennessee. The event will be held there again in 2023, along with another location in Tennessee, two in North Carolina, one each in Alabama, Georgia, Ohio, and of course the one in Cedar Rapids.

Shadrack's Christmas Adventure will be at Hawkeye Downs in Cedar Rapids from Friday, November 17 through Sunday, January 7, 2024. The event is seven days a week, rain or shine, and includes holidays. Hours are 6 to 10 p.m. weekdays and 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. (or later) on Saturday and Sunday. Ticket information is below the video.

Tickets for a passenger vehicle with a maxiumum of eight people are $24.95. That price is in effect through November 16. Once the event begins, Passenger Vehicle Tickets are $29.95. Activity Van Tickets (with a maximum of 25 people) can be purchased for $59.95. There is no pre-discount for Activity Van Tickets. Those tickets are good for any night the show is open. Prices do not include taxes and fees.
