Bremer County authorities responded to an accident involving two vehicles hitting a deer over the weekend.

According to sheriff's officials, deputies were dispatched to the crash scene on County Road V-14 north of Waverly just before 7:30 p.m. on Friday (Oct. 6, 2017). Upon arrival, they discovered that a car and sport utility vehicle were both traveling southbound and struck a buck that was crossing the highway. Both vehicles were damaged, and the deer ended up in the car after the collision.

Authorities said the car's driver, Ashley Ellis of Sumner, suffered minor injuries in the crash and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The other driver, Karli Kilcher of Fredericksburg, avoided being hurt.
