Deadly Accident Closes Dubuque Bridge

A deadly accident on a Dubuque bridge early this (Monday) morning, closed it down to traffic for several hours.

The accident happened shortly after 2am on the Julien Dubuque bridge. It involved a car and a semi-tractor trailer.

The Jo Daviess, Illinois County coronor has confirmed that at least one person was killed in the head-on collission. Initially, authorities reported two people being trapped in a vehicle after the crash. One of the injured was taken to a Dubuque hospital.

No names have been released yet. The bridge, which runs from Dubuque to East Dubuque, Illinois, was re-opened at about 11am. For about 9 hours, traffic had to be re-routed onto the Dubuque-Wisconsin bridge.
