Congress has approved a $900 billion COVID-19 relief package aimed at helping Americans with a financial stimulus, business owners and farmers. The Iowa Cattleman's Association reports in addition to the $900 billion deal, an additional $1.4 trillion has been dedicated to a spending bill for fiscal year 2021. A $13 billion allocation is directed to support farmers, ranchers, and processors who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Additional topics of interest for Iowa farmers are:

  • ELD enforcement for livestock haulers
  • Meat processing and Cooperative Interstate Shipment (CIS)
  • COVID relief payments to cattle producers

The bill was passed by the House and Senate late last night (December 21), and is expected to be signed into law by President Trump.
