Cedar Valley Honor Flight Postponed
The coronavirus pandemic has forced organizers of a planned honor flight out of Waterloo in May to postpone the trip until later this year.
The Sullivan Hartogh Davis Cedar Valley Honor Flight was scheduled for May 27. Now, the flight has been pushed back to Sept. 29 due to health concerns associated with COVID-19.
According to a press release, the Honor Flight Network Board of Directors met Wednesday night to discuss the Center For Decease Control's current guidelines and outlook for the coming weeks. Based on information available right now, the Board decided to extend the current mandatory suspension of all Honor Flight trips through May 31.
The Board also chose to institute a mandatory suspension of all local Honor Flight group gatherings, including in-person fundraisers, in accordance with current CDC guidelines that provide that no more than 10 persons at high-risk for COVID-19 be together in a group setting.
The suspension of group gatherings begins immediately and is in place through the end of May, the press release said.
