One man is dead and another behind bars after a Friday night shooting in Cedar Rapids.

According to the Cedar Rapids Police Department, officers were sent to a home at 3906 Northwood Dr. N.E, south of 42nd Street and west of I-380, at about 9 p.m. Friday night. They were dispatched after a 911 call to the Joint Communication Agency reporting shots fired at the home.

When officers got to the home they found a male who had been shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim has been identified as 39-year-old Ty Casey of Cedar Rapids. He is the 6th person murdered in Cedar Rapids in 2022 and the first since two people were killed the morning of April 10 inside the Taboo Nightclub and Lounge.

The Cedar Rapids Police Department says they conducted interviews with two people who were present at the scene. After their investigation, Cedar Rapids Police arrested 42-year-old James Siegel (below) of Cedar Rapids.

Siegel has been charged with First-Degree Murder in Casey's death. Siegel is being held at the Linn County Jail on Mays Island in Cedar Rapids. He is being held on a $1 million bond.
