Call For Post-Memorial Day Volunteers

The Oelwein American Legion is putting the word out, that they would appreciate any help in taking down the flags at Woodlawn cemetery, that had been put up a week ago, for Memorial Day.

The group will have the same schedule as last week.

The small flags will be gathered first on Thursday; the Legion notes that young children and families may enjoy the experience, in that it gives kids a sense of patriotism; the small flags are also easiest to pick up.

The big flags will be taken down and folded Friday morning, starting at 9am. This process is a little more labor intensive. After folding, the flags will be put in a wooden storage locker, and will be used again next year.

Legion member Jake Blitsch notes that it should only take about an hour.
