WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) — A brewery may move into the site of a vacant Wonder Bread bakery in downtown Waterloo.

Single Speed Brewing Co. is eyeing the building to grow beyond its current location in Cedar Falls. Owner Dave Morgan says he likes the former bakery building and its location, which is near the Cedar Valley SportsPlex and Young Arena.

The bakery stopped production in November 2012 when Hostess Brands filed for bankruptcy. The City Council later voted to buy the property from Flowers Baking Co. for $400,000.

Waterloo Mayor Buck Clark says no development agreement is in place for Single Speed to acquire the building but called the company a "legitimate prospect."
