Bodies Of Evansdale Cousins Found Six Years Ago
Today marks a somber anniversary in the Cedar Valley.
Six year ago, hunters found the bodies of Elizabeth Collins and Lyric Cook-Morrissey, the young cousins who disappeared five months earlier while riding their bicycles in Evansdale. Their bodies were discovered on Dec. 5, 2012, in a secluded section of the Seven Bridges Wildlife Area in Bremer County. Investigators believe they were kidnapped and killed.
Collins, of Evansdale, was 8-years-old when she died. Cook-Morrissey, of Waterloo, was 10. To date, no suspects have been arrested and the case remains unsolved.
Investigators continue to work on the case. Authorities remain hopeful that someday they'll be able to determine who committed the crime.
Cedar Valley Crime Stoppers is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information, can call Evansdale police at 319-232-6682 or Cedar Valley Crime Stoppers at 855-300-8417 (TIPS).
