As of this writing hockey fans, the Waterloo Black Hawks first home game is only 25 days away, but who's counting? The team announced their schedule for the 2020/21 season a couple of weeks ago, and it kicks off Friday, November 6th versus Omaha. On Monday, the Black Hawks, Black Hawk County Public Health officials, and Waterloo Leisure Services announced the details of their "COVID-19 Readiness Plan" which will govern all aspects of rink operations on game night.

In a press release, Black Hawks President of Business Operations Joe Greene stated:

"Safety is our top priority for everyone coming into the building whether they are playing, watching, or working. However, the most important thing to making this plan successful is having each individual do their part to protect everyone else.”

Under the plan and current City of Waterloo policy, fans will be required to wear face coverings and observe social distancing designations. Fans not adhering to the plan's "code of conduct" could mean a reduction in the number of fans able to attend or total elimination of fan attendance.

Here's some other big change for this year: "once inside Young Arena, fans will not be allowed to re-enter the arena should they elect to exit".  Also, "there will be no general admission seating, all seats will be reserved, including spaces on the terrace standing level, standing on the terrace standing level without a reserved ticket will be prohibited".
