Seniors in the community who may feel lonely, overlooked, or isolated during the holiday season can be sponsored by a fantastic program called "Be a Santa to a Senior". 550 seniors will experience the joy of giving this year. Members of the community can simply look for the giving tree at one of the following locations, according to Iowa's News Now, select an ornament and purchase an anonymous unwrapped gift, return it to that location and volunteers will take care of it the rest. You are also encouraged to purchase more than one gift and you can find the giving trees at these locations:

  • HyVee - 1843 Johnson Avenue NW, Cedar Rapids
  • Hy-Vee - 20 Wilson Avenue SW, Cedar Rapids
  • Hy-Vee Drugstore, Blairs Ferry Road NE
  • Hy-Vee - 279 Collins Road NE, Cedar Rapids

The Be A Santa to Senior director Karen Huber said

a small act of kindness can make a big difference. And a heartfelt gift brightens the lives of older adults who may feel alone during the season. Finding ways to care and support one another is important now more than ever and we are grateful for the community’s involvement every year
