SOLON, Iowa (AP) — Opening hours at an Iowa state park beach are being cut following fighting and other rowdy behavior.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says it's closing the Lake Macbride State Park beach at 6 p.m. instead of the original 10:30 p.m. time. Officials believe alcohol use had contributed to the unruly behavior this month at the Johnson County beach, most of which happened late at night.

The time change also is in effect at the Pleasant Creek State Recreation Area beach in Linn County.

Lake Macbride State Park Ranger Gwen Prentice says park officials are considering adding law enforcement to help supervise the area.
