While assisting a motorist in Fayette County, officers ended up arresting him on a driving violation.

Shortly after 10am Tuesday, a Fayette County deputy, out on patrol, stopped to help a motorist who was having mechanical issues, at the intersection of "F" Avenue and Highway 3, south of Arlington.

During the stop, the officer discovered that the driver, 22 year old Jay Sawvel of Dubuque, was operating without a valid driver's license.

Sawvel was taken to the Fayette county jail in West Union, and charged with Driving while his license is barred. He was held until an appearance before a magistrate.
