Area Teen Hurt in ATV Rollover

A Northeast Iowa teen has been injured in an accident involving an all-terrain-vehicle.

The Fayette County Sheriff was alerted at about 6pm Tuesday (April 26) of an ATV accident, in the 23,000 block of "O" Avenue, east of Hawkeye.

Two juveniles, 13 and 14 years old from Hawkeye, were traveling north on the county road, when the operator lost control. The Arctic Cat ATV went into a ditch and rolled.

The passenger was injured; the teen was initially taken to Palmer Hospital in West Union, and later airlifted to another facility. There was no report on the teen's condition.

Names of the juveniles were not released.

The accident is still under investigation.
