UPDATE: City officials on Wednesday said test results on West Union's water supply came back positive, showing no signs of contamination. The order to drink bottled water until further notice has been lifted.

ORIGINAL STORY (From Jan. 12, 2020):

West Union residents are being advised to drink bottled water until further notice.

City officials issued the warning Sunday morning after the primary water main broke in West Union late Saturday night.

Supervisors from West Union Utilities have reported that city water is NOT SAFE IF BOILED. Residents should consume ONLY bottled water until at least Wednesday (Jan. 15, 2020).

Utilities officials said Wednesday is a tentative date, if the water tests safe. They advised the order could be extended beyond Wednesday, if the water isn’t safe.

Supervisors said West Union's city water is safe to use for bathing, just not for drinking.
