A Unique New Craft Beer Store Has Opened in Cedar Rapids
A cool new shop filled with local products has officially opened in Northeast Cedar Rapids!
Thanks to Facebook, we now know that Local Craft Cellar has started welcoming customers at 7085 C Ave NE! The store is right near Bank Iowa in the same strip of buildings as Subway. It's owned and operated by Jason Wilkerson, who used to have a restaurant called The Local Craft on Center Point Road.
If you're wondering what Local Craft Cellar is all about, the Facebook page explains:
"Local Craft Cellar is a combination of an Iowa product’s gift shop featuring a variety of Iowa items from different categories with a large footprint of Iowa craft beers.
Aside from the Iowa products, we also have a nice wine selection with a heavy emphasis on mid-high tier selections. Accessories and gift bags to go along with wine are also available.
There will be a selection of spirits, highlighting whiskey and specialty items. There is also a selection in other spirits categories including some rum, tequila, vodka, gin, cordials etc. We will feature some fun and delicious mixers to go along with those spirits as well."
Some of the local products available include sauces from Lola's Fine Hot Sauce, meats from Edgewood Meat Locker, Oasis Hummus, La Quercia Cured Meats, goods from Galena Canning Company, cheese from Milton Creamery LLC, leather products from Gravel Roots Leather, bags of coffee from Impact Coffee, and more. There are some non-alcoholic beers and spirits on the shelves, too.
If you want to check out the selection at Local Craft Cellar, there are a few things you need to know before you visit. First of all, there is no cash on-site, so you have to use a card for all purchases. As of right now, there are no gift cards available, but they are "coming soon." They also ask that all guests under the age of 21 are accompanied by a parent or guardian. With all of the glass on the shelves, it's not an idea place for little ones.
Local Craft Cellar is currently doing a soft opening, so they have not set regular hours yet. Here is the schedule for the next few days:
They'll announce their regular hours next Tuesday.
