The City of Oelwein will apparently have another vacancy on the city council.

Ted Malget, who was appointed to the First Ward seat in October, has indicated he will resign.

Malget was named to the post in October, a seat formerly held by Peggy Sherrets, after Sherrets was elected mayor of Oelwein.

Malget submitted his resignation effective Monday (yesterday), however the item was not on the council's regular agenda, and therefore could not be confirmed until the next gathering, in July.

In a letter to the local newspaper, Malget claims he cannot work with the current mayor, and had difficulties with the current administration.
