A Clermont woman, accused of letting a convicted sex offender be in the presence of her young child, has turned herself in to authorities.

30 year old Hilary Marie Upton surrendered to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office last Thursday (Jan. 28th). Upton was wanted on a Fayette County warrant for child endangerment.

On Sunday, Jan. 24th, Upton's 5 year old daughter was a passenger in a car driven by 38 year old James Tackett, that crashed into Resale Therapy, a business on Highway 18 in Clermont. The accident killed Tackett, and injured the 5 year old girl, who was pulled out of the wreckage by emergency workers.

An investigation revealed Tackett was a convicted sex offender, who had been living with the girl's mother, Hilary Upton, who had allegedly known that Tackett had to register as a sex offender.

Upton was held in the Fayette County jail on $2,000 bond.
