Woman Charged with Theft in Attempted Shoplifting

An area woman has been arrested on a theft charge, for trying to shoplift items worth several hundred dollars from the Decorah Walmart store.

On Wednesday (March 6), the Decorah Police Department was called to Walmart on the report of a shoplifting incident.

Melissa Poage had attempted to leave the store with merchandise she did not pay for.

The items were worth more than $300.

Poage was taken to the Winneshiek County jail on a charge of 4th Degree Theft.
