An Eastern Iowa woman is being charged with causing a three vehicle accident near Cedar Rapids.


Just before 5:30pm Wednesday (June 23), the Linn County Sheriff was alerted of a traffic accident involving multiple vehicles, just north of Bertram.

A vehicle driven by 27 year old Catherine Fritz of Anamosa, ran into the back of two stopped vehicles at the intersection of Highway 13 and Summit View Lane. Fritz and her passenger were taken to St. Luke's Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the 2nd vehicle, 72 year old Jan Furler of Ely, along with her passenger, were taken by private vehicle to Mercy Hospital.

The occupants of the third vehicle were not injured.

The first driver, Catherine Fritz, is being charged with Failing to Stop Within an Assured and Clear Distance.
